Paper
Craft Projects for Kids - Page 2
Name Art
 1. Fold a piece of paper in half, lengthwise.
2. Write a name in cursive with a pencil on the top half of the paper making sure that the bottom of the letters are on the line. Go over the name with the pencil so it is dark. Add extra lopes and curly-Q's to make the picture really interesting.
3.
Fold the paper in half so the name is on the inside.
4. Rub over the area where the name is with your fingernail or a smooth object. The name transfers to the bottom half of the paper and overlaps the letter that go below the line.
5. Trace over the top and bottom names with a marker. Erase the pencil marks.
6. Decorate the names using different colors of makers or make them into bug, fish, or other creatures.
Lip
Print Picture Craft for Kids- Here's
a simple but fun craft to do with your child when you can't think
of anything to draw.
What
you will need: Paper, crayons, paint, lip stick
What to do: Put dark lip stick on your child. Instruct
him or her to kiss a piece of paper in the middle of the page. Draw
in the face and features around the lips to look like the child. Or
have the child draw in his or her own features.
Small Gift Box Craft for Kids
- Here's
a 5" x 5" box that's easy to make and will cost less than 50 cents
to make. You can make two box bottoms and 3 box lids from
one piece of poster board.
What
you will need: Poster board, ruler, scissors, pen, and hot melt
glue.
What
to do:
- Print
out the patterns for the box
bottom,
and the box
lid.
Use a ruler to draw the box and the lid following the pattern.
- Cut
the pattern on the solid lines. Score the poster board by
pressing down hard with a pen while drawing the lines that need
to be folded. This will make it easy for you to fold the box.
- Fold
on all the lines before you start gluing the box together.
All the folds are folded in to the center of the box. The flaps
on the outside of the pattern fold over and into the box to make
the sides sturdier or double thickness. Glue the box together.
"Jesus
Loves the Little Children" Fold out Card Craft
for Kids - Use
this card with any lesson about love.
What
you need: Construction paper, legal size white paper, crayons
or markers, glue
What to do:
1. Print out the pattern
provided onto legal size paper.
2. Cut off the extra paper around the dolls. Fold up the
dolls using the fan fold.
3. Fold a piece of construction paper in half and then in half
again to form a card.. Glue the first square of the folded paper
chain to the inside of the card so the other squares fold up on top
of the one glued to the card. On the outside of the card write, "Jesus
Loves the little Children" or another saying.
4. Have the children draw in the faces and clothes of the dolls.
Doodle
Creatures Craft for Kids -
This is a great project to do when you can't think
of anything to draw.
What
you will need: Paper, pencil, crayons, imagination
What
to do:
- Scribble
on a piece of paper with a pencil. Use lots of curves, circles,
jagged lines, short lines, and long lines.
- It
takes a lot of imagination to find a picture in a bunch of scribbles.
Stare at the scribbles you made. Look for some kind of shape
to pop out at you. Try turning the page around to view
it at different angles. View it from close up and far away.
If you can't find anything after a couple of minutes, try adding
some lines. If you still can't find anything, try a new scribble.
This takes some practice. Once you find a creature you can
add what ever you need to finish the creature. Don't forget
to give your creature a name.
Folded
Paper Stained Glass Window Craft for Kids -
Here is an easy project that is great for those times when you
have still have a few minutes left before the parents show up and
nothing else planned. I am almost 40 years old and still
remember doing this in kindergarten class.
What
you will need: Typing paper and crayons
What
to do: Fold a piece of paper at an angle and then unfold
making a nice crease with your thumb. Fold again and unfold
until you have a good stained glass effect. Color in each shape
with a different color crayon.

Chrismon Snowflake Ornaments
- What are chrismons? They are symbols of
Christ or Christianity, a Christ-Monogram". Crowns, crosses,
doves, stars, and butterflies are a few examples of Chrismons.
The way they are folded and cut gives them their three dimensional
quality. Chrismon Snowflakes are reminiscent of German and Swiss Scherenschnitte,
(the religious art/craft of intricate paper cutting). Crafters
remove one of the Chrismon Snowflake designs from the book; fold,
cut, and unfold the design, and voila! a unique ornament of faith
is created. For ages 9-adult, with a special section for kids, ages
6-8. A great project for the family, school, or Sunday school during
the Advent season. These beautiful ornaments were created by Sarah
Keith. You can get a free sample to download and make from her new
book. To get more information about her book, more pictures,
