"Back-to-school with a Leap" Bible Lesson with Crafts and Learning Activities

 

The following crafts and activities come from the Bible lesson "Back to School with a Leap". In the lesson, based on the children's book "Froggy Goes to School", children learn that they need to prepare for school so that they will be successful. This includes having the right clothing and supplies, as well as being spiritually dressed by preparing their hearts and minds with Bible study and prayer.

This lesson includes materials for both younger and older children featuring a boy and girl back-to-school prayer book in which children can write the names of their teacher, principal, and classmates. Make a Back-to-School Prayer Book

 

This is a great craft to help children prepare their minds for school. Children color the book's cover and then staple the pages together. They write the names of their teacher, principal and classmates so they can remember to pray for them. This craft includes a boy and girl cover pattern. There is also a blank page where children can add their own prayers. Two frog-themed Bible verse reviews games are also included.

These adorable little paper frogs are used to display the children's Bible memory verse. They can tape them to their refrigerator for a daily reminder to study the verse. The head is made from a folded piece of paper so that the mouth opens and closes. Children can create their own designs by adding features such as a tongue, spots, and pompom eyes, and coloring them different colors.

Frog Bean Bag Craft and Bible Verse Review Toss Game

1. Prepare the bean bags before class by gluing felt shapes together (no sewing required.)

2. In class, have your students glue or stick on craft foam shapes and googly eyes.

3. Use the bean bags to play a Bible verse review toss game. Children throw the frog bean bags onto craft foam lily pads. The lily pads have Bible verse words and different things written on them for the children to do, such as leap like a frog, ribbit like a frog, give a big smile, tell us the name of your teacher last year, etc. If a frog lands on a lily pad with a word, the child tapes the liy pad to the bulletin board in the correct order.

Froggy has a very important message for everyone, but the only problem is he ate the it. Children reach into the frogs mouth and pick one of the pieces of paper. If a child picks one of the words to the message, tape it up on the board. If a child picks one of the pictures, ask him or her what Froggy ate and have them show the rest of the class. When all the words are found, see if the children can figure out the correct order of the words to figure out the message.

Paper Bag Backpack Craft and Bible Verse Review Activity

Children make a backpack out of a paper lunch bag and then write words from the Bible verse on the crayons so they can review the Bible verse at home by practice putting the crayons in order to make the Bible verse.
