Winter Hat Finger Puppets Craft and Learning Fun Activities

Use these adorable simple craft stick puppets for some creative winter fun and learning activities!
What you will need:
6-inch Jumbo Craft Sticks or 8-inch Jumbo Craft Sticks
Mini Hats and Scarves - Red, Green and White and Santa Hat
Tiny Bows (Optional)
How to Make:
1. Place hats on the end of the craft sticks.
2. Glue Googly eyes just under the hat.
3. Add other decorative items such as scarves and bows.
Use these adorable puppets for the following learning activities:
1. Poem Fun - Read the following poem.
Red hat when the cold winds blow,
Green hat when I’m on the go,
White hat for a snowball fight—
But Santa’s hat gets worn tonight!
Ho, ho, ho!
- As you recite the poem, have your children raise each puppet as its color is named, then bounce the Santa-hat puppet for “Ho, ho, ho!”
- If you have different colors, have your children help you add new verses for each color they want to use.
- If you don't have craft sticks, children can place the hats on their fingers and draw faces on them.

2. “Which Hat Is Hiding?” - Show all four puppets, have children close their eyes, and hide one. Can they name the missing hat?
3. Copy My Puppet - Move a puppet up, down, sideways, or in a circle. Children copy its movements with their own puppets.
4. Christmas Sing-Along - Children bounce their puppets to the beat while singing. During “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” each puppet can pop up for a different line.
5. Tell a Winter Story - Start with “Four friends went outside to play in the snow…” Each child adds something their puppet does.
6. Who Has the Hat? - Give clues such as “My hat matches the trees” or “My hat matches the snow.” Children raise the puppet that fits.
7. Kindness Puppets - Present little situations: “Your friend has no one to play with.” Children use their puppets to act out a kind response.
